I'm getting ready to change the oil in my Savage for the first time since I bought it (used bike, ~3k miles since last dealer service). How much oil is required WITH changing the filter as opposed to NOT changing the filter? The only thing I remember for sure is the manual is wrong.
On a different but related thread, any damage if I just use 10W-40 as is stamped on the oil cap, or is the higher price commanded by motorcycle oil justified?
